While the Chocolate Albatross butterfly (Appias lyncida vasava) is quite common in Malaysia, it is almost extinct in Singapore. It is found on the grasslands on the edge of forests and secondary jungles.
When I found some of these fluttering among the weed flowers near the river in Happy Valley, Bukit Tinggi, they were in the company of several White Albatross. A number of them can usually be found "puddling" with other butterflies in the early morning. One other place where they can be found is Fraser's Hill.
