My wife and I have been to the Orchid Garden @ Lake Gardens many times. It's convenient to drive there as there is hardly any traffic in the vicinity during the weekdays. There is also ample parking space at the Bird Park just across the road and parking is free of charge. So is admission into the Orchid Garden. Although there is a sign that says the admission charge is RM1.00 during the weekends and public holidays, I have yet to see anyone manning the ticket booth.
It's a pleasant walk around a huge garden almost entirely dedicated to
orchids. I marvel at the planning and maintenance work involved in such a
huge project. Obviously there has been a lot of thought put into the
landscaping concepts.
For those who would love to buy some orchids there are some small shops there selling many varieties of orchid plants.
I believe the Orchid Garden has just completed a major overhaul as the landscaping now is brighter and more eye-pleasing. And the orchids look beautiful, meaning, the maintenance is really up to date.
For those who are orchid enthusiasts, I think you will spend at least two to three hours to see most of the exhibits. If you plan on just a "jalan jalan" trip, an hour would suffice.
