Another post on a bright-coloured flower to brighten up our day. The Golden Trumpet is a very common flower that I seem to see everywhere, along road sides, in gardens, in public parks and even in the wild. They grow easily and bloom in abundance, giving a cheery ambience to their surroundings. I see lots of them in the vicinity of my house.

The flower is plain bright yellow or golden with five lobed sepals and a bell- or funnel-shaped corolla of five petals surrounding a deep hollow in the middle. It's amusing to see bees squirming their way into the middle of the hollow to search for nectar.

The particularly striking golden-yellow flowers contrast with its shiny dark green leaves to make an attractive lush plant. Attractive as the flower and the plant may be, all parts of the plant are poisonous if eaten. The stem produces a sap that is an irritant to the human skin.

Photos shot at Taman Puchong Hartamas, Bukit Puchong 2 and the Wonderful Valley in Bukit Tinggi.
